Cannot create C:\inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers Error

Good day,

I am trying to install Viewer for Flex but am running into problems.

I have downloaded Adobe Air and have turned on the Windows IIS on my laptop.
I am the only user and administrator.

When the Application Builder opens for the first time the Settings window pops up and when saving the default location for Web
Server Base Folder and Base Folder URL, I get the following error: Cannot create C:\inetpub\wwwroot\flexviewers!

What could prevent me from creating the Web Server Base Folders?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WMS doesn't overlay correctly (4326)

My operational layer (wms wkid=4326) doesn't overlay correctly with the basemap below which is also in WGS84 (wkid=4326). See attached screenshot.

eSearch Widget-Print Data Grid Results

Robert,
It appears that the new print data grid results does not work in Chrome. Could you verify this? The resulting page(s) are blank. I've tested in IE & FF and it works great. Although Chrome accounts for a small percentage of our users, I'd like to see if I could get this functionality to work in that browser.

Identify Widget 3

I keep getting this error message and I cant figure out why:

"A problem occurred while parsing the configuration file widgets/Identify/IdentifyWidget.xml
Error #1090"

Here is a portion of my config file for the widget:

Add operational layer from ArcGIS.com created with ArcGIS desktop

Good day,

I would like to create an operational layer and present it on top of a base map using Viewer for Flex.

I created a map of canadian health regions in ArcGIS desktop and used the "Share" feature which allowed me to upload the map as a package into ArcGIS online.

I thought I could then open Viewer for Flex and add the layer to my map but when I go to Step 2 (Operational Layers) and try to
select a layer from "My Content" in ArcGIS online I find nothing.

How do I create an operational layer and make it available for Viewer for Flex?

Any help would be appreciated.

widget for identify values in raster data using ARCGIS VIEWER for flex.

I have used Kernel Density tool from the spatial analyst tool on one of my layer in the map document. the result is generated as raster data.i used identify tool (in the ARCMAP) to find the density at any point. However I want to do the same job from client side using ARCGIS VIEWER for flex.

The things i want to know is :
should i publish map as map service or image service to access the density at every point under browser. and am i right is thinking to use identify task or is there some other trick. please give suggestion. is there any widget available.

Identify Widget Help

I've searched and searched and can't seem to get a definitive answer.....is it possible in an Identify widget to get all fields to show up without having to type out each field? I want to have all my storm points under one label and my different points layers have different attributes....this fact seems to make the widget error out. I have entered ALL the different attributes from the different layers into the <fields> portion of the code....and nothing works. 2 of my layers have the exact same fields and those work when only adding those to the <fields>.


Sorry this is long, but.....can you have multiple layers (with different fields) under the same <layer> in the identify widget?

Web Maps with CSV Operational Layers not supported?

Hi:

This webmap has an operational layer that points to a csv file on a web server:

If above url is truncated, itemid is: abc34ec59ee44df59be59850700e6592

The ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 3.0 does not appear to recognize the layer. Can you confirm that this is by design or am I doing something wrong?

Edit Widget in 3.0

I'm in the process of converting web applications from SFV v2.5 to v3.0 and I have everything working in the new version except various editing tasks.

I am using the same web service, the same layer settings, and the defaults for the edit widget config file but no matter what I do, I cannot get the known editable layers from v2.5 to show up in the edit widget window in v3.0.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Grouping Icons

Is it possible to group together icons that are close to/on top of each other in a dynamic layer? I know in previous versions of flex, this was NOT possible, I'm just curious if there have been any changes.

Or even if grouping icons cannot be done in Flex, is there a way to do it in ArcMap?

Any help is appreciated.

(1) Is it possible to reorder the pop-up window content from the configuration file? I'd like to place the media container above the description, but simply moving the code doesn't affect this change.

(2) Within the description, can I reference a fields from another operational layer?

minimized widget position

Currently, if I minimize a widget, it will "shrink" up and to the left.

Is it possible to have it shrink down and to the right and still have it as fix or float. If I set to vertical, it minimizes up and to the right instead of left, but I would like to have it fixed, and minimize down and right.

any ideas?

Keyboard accessible map points

Hi,

Using Flex Viewer 2.0 / Flash Builder 4.6.
Is it possible to include map points on the feature layer in the tab order, make them keyboard accessible?
It looks like the map points are of com.esri.ags.Graphic type and they do implement but not declare the mx.managers.IFocusManagerComponent interface. This makes the points invisible for the FocusManager. Is there a workaround?

Last Known Location query

I have a map service set up on tracking observation data. Then I point a customized Time slider widget at this tracking data so that the users can select a Vehicle and see where he traveled during a time period or show all the points where he exceeded 100km/h.

Now they want to know the Last Known Location for all vehicles. The Tracking widget isn't good enough because in some vehicles the gps unit is shut down when the engine is turned off.

So,
1. Can I use a QueryTask with grouping? In sql I'd do something like "select vehicle, max(date) from trackingData group by vehicle".
2. If no to 1 then should I still use the QueryTask with a "order by date DESC" and then set up a custom renderer to only show the first record for each vehicle?
3. Create a database view to handle the query logic, then include the view in the map service and join it to the tracking data somehow?

Any ideas are welcome.

eSearch popup vs. MapClick popup

Hi all - I need a better understanding on what's going on behind the scenes with the eSearch tool and a map click.

I have the eSearch widget loaded and displaying the fields and thumbnails I need once records are selected (see attached search_popup.jpg).

But when I click on the same selected point, the point is selected and the popup displays honoring the fields I set in the eSearch.xml, but without the attachments (mapclick_popup.jpg).

I'm trying to figure out how to show the attachments with a mapclick as well, but more importantly, understand where in the code the map click is firing from.

How can I verify what Flex version a map was made in?

I have inherited a handful of maps created with Flex Viewer and would like to verify which version they were created in.

Unfortunately the 'About' button isn't that accurate as it can be manipulated and therefore not fully trustworthy.

What is the best way to figure this out?
